When it comes to being a good neighbor, you probably think of things like letting your neighbor borrow a cup of sugar or letting them know if they left their garage door open at night. However, much of being a good neighbor actually involves taking care of your own property. Because there is no formal handbook to tell you how to be a good neighbor, your friends at Nature’s Select® have put together a quick list of things you should be doing to keep your home looking great and your neighbors happy.
No one likes being woken up or kept awake by the sound of a lawn mower. Before you start up the mower, check and see what time it is. Just because you prefer to wake up at 6 a.m. and get the lawn mowed doesn't mean your neighbors will. We suggest waiting until at least 9 a.m. before doing any noisy lawn work and completing it before 7 p.m. Your neighbors will appreciate your consideration, especially if they have young kids that go to bed early.
Lawn work is messy work. If it's been a while since you last mowed, you will likely have quite a mess of lawn clippings to clean up when you're done. It's definitely bad form to leave these all over your neighbor's driveway, sidewalk, or into their lawn. Make sure you rake or blow your clippings evenly back into your lawn so they can break down and provide nitrogen to the soil. This will keep your neighborhood looking clean and your lawn naturally healthy.
Some homeowners love yard work. They take great pride in caring for their lawns and their neighbors appreciate the effort. However, lawn care just isn't everyone's strength or top priority. If you are such a homeowner, don't hesitate to ask for help in caring for your lawn. Hire a quality lawn care company to keep your lawn looking beautiful and your neighbors happy.
